Hiking Lago di Braies (Lake Braies) in the Italian Dolomites

Image
Lake Braies is a lake in northern Italy, in the Trentino Alto Adige region and UNESCO has named it as a World Heritage Site: the "Pearl of the Dolomites". Every year, especially in summer, many tourists come to admire the clear water and the wonderful mountain landscape. Come with me, I will hike you there! Lake Braies is the most stunning lake in the Italian Dolomites in the Nature Park of Fanes-Senes-Braies . I wanted to spend my birthday in a special way and what's more special than spending a day on a wonderful Italian lake? Paolo and I hiked around the lake; it is simple and suitable for everyone (not wheelchairs though) and you can explore a natural spot that seems to have been taken out of a fairy tale! The place was actually quite packed with families and groups, also because it has become the set of the Italian TV series, " A un passo dal cielo " (Just a step away from heaven). What stays with you is the point of green of the lake water and the greenery

Italy (Friuli Venezia Giulia): outdoor music emotions on the shores of Laghi di Fusine (Fusine Lakes)

Image
In the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia on  the border with Slovenia and Austria there are two stunning emerald lakes, Laghi di Fusine. On top of hiking or sunbathing, discover another fun way to chill out and enjoy the magic of Fusine Lakes in Northeastern Italy! Laghi di Fusine, Italy WHERE ARE FUSINE LAKES? I find myself sitting on a huge cold boulder on the shores of a vivid green lake. It is the upper lake of Fusine Lakes. It is early morning and cold, though it's August. This place is the coldest area in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia: minus 35 degrees in winter.    I eye towards the center of the lake where the surrounding mountains are reflected, especially the Magart. Oh, yeah, the Magart. A jarring name for a mountain, German or Austrian, I would say, or rather, Slovenian, yet we are in Italy.  In fact, we are on the border where Slovenia, Italy and Austria meet in an intersection of the Alps with trilingual names.  FUSINE LAKES: A SET FOR A MYSTERY FILM

The Dolomites (Italy): Cibiana di Cadore, the pretty hamlet where a picture paints a thousand word

Image
If you are in the Italian Veneto region and you visit the Dolomites, why don't you stop at the beautiful village of Cibiana di Cadore where colourful murals have been painted on the house facades by artists from all over the world? It's summer in Cibiana di Cadore nestled in the Italian Dolomites near Belluno.   A late afternoon sun warms the village streets at 1,025 metres above sea level and illuminates the houses, the dark roofs and the wooden balconies.  The village is dressed in magic: geraniums displayed everywhere, a cat dozing on a chair, a gentleman chatting, a woman just standing on the door entrance. An atmosphere of familiarity that smells like the scent of mountain resins, fresh milk and welcoming smiles.  After spending a wonderful day hiking on Monte Rite and visiting the Messner Mountain Museum Dolomites Museum , we want to know more about the art and history of this tiny mountain village, Cibiana di Cadore.
